Passing the CPA Exam - These Tips Will Help HomeThis is a featured page

What follows are a number of CPA exam tips that have helped me to pass the CPA exam, and I am sure that they will help you too. Pass the CPA exam you will, finally ¨C it is bound to happen unless you give up.

1)Develop the Right Mentality
It's not easy to pass the CPA. Passing the CPA is a huge undertaking that may need a lot of tenacity and time in order to succeed. Numerous people fail multiple sections multiple times before eventually passing all 4 sections. Brace yourself for the likelihood that you may fail multiple sections before you can pass them, and accept that as a normal part of the journey of preparing for and passing the CPA. 2)Get Help From People Around You
Start enlisting help from your friends & family by explaining to them the reasons why you need to pass your CPA exam and how time-consuming and complicated this project is. If they approve of what you're trying to achieve, they may help you out with some of your current responsibilities (e.g. household chores such as cooking and cleaning), and will understand if you can't be present at every social gathering.

3)Maintain Great Health
Eat a well-balanced diet, get enough exercise, and most importantly, get at least 6-8 hours of sleep every night, taking an afternoon nap in between if you need to (don't go beyond 15-30 minutes or you'll feel groggy). Also, don't neglect to set aside time for regular study breaks - they'll assistance you to stay refreshed and focused, and will also help your brain to absorb materials more easily when you resume from the study break. Studying for the CPA can be quite exhausting. The best CPA review courses are even accompanied by lists of practice exam questions for you to focus on, that are most likely to appear on the actual exam. The best of these CPA exam review programs include live support to allow you to call in to ask for clarification on study materials, and obtain immediate answers and detailed clarification from live instructors. 5)Find a Study Buddy - Or Two
CPAnet.com has a forum where you can find study partners in your area. Studying with other people can help you to be more disciplined, and two (or three) heads are often better than one when it comes to working out tough problems or concepts. Most people find it overwhelming when trying to study for all CPA exam sections simultaneously. There's simply too much material to cover at the same time. A better way would be to concentrate only on one single section at a time, pass the exam for that section, take a break, and then start studying for the next section and so on. Getting rid of that most difficult section first will minimize your chances of running out of time and having the 18-month window expire on you.

7)Target Problem Areas
Reviewing materials you know well will make you feel confident, but it probably won't help your exam scores by much finally. To get the most effective ROI (rate of return) for your study time, spend it on learning material you have the most trouble with. concentrate on them until you have conquered them.

8)Taking Notes is Important
It is crucial to take lots of notes while you're studying, so that you'll have something to review during the last several days before the actual exam. Since your short-term memory is, well, short-term, materials you review during those last several days will be the freshest on your mind on the day of the exam. This small window of time is simply not enough for you to go over all study materials from start to end, so be sure you have a complete set of study notes that you can memorize during the last few valuable days before your exam.

While doing practice questions, time yourself like you're actually doing the exam. Moreover, by training yourself in this way, you'll be less likely to panic on exam day when you don't know the answer to a question.

10)Practice, Practice, and More Practice
Try to do as many practice problems for as many times as you have time for. Find out about how Dave Bryant's ultimately managed to pass 3 previously failed CPA sections over the course of only 10 months, with impressive scores, in his blog PasstheCPAExam.org.
